Actress Julia Roberts tells the personal story of Martin Luther King Jr entertainment

Julia Roberts says the late Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife Coretta Scott King paid the hospital bill for her birth.

The 55-year-old actress revealed the couple made the gesture as her parents couldn’t afford the fee, and said her mother and father befriended the royals while they lived in Atlanta and ran a theater school.

She told Gayle King in a clip showing her chatting with the journalist last month, now shared online by a fan: “One day Coretta called my mother and asked if her kids could be part of the school because she Children had a hard time finding a place that would take their children.

“My mom said, ‘Sure, come over,’ so they all just became friends and helped us out.”

It was reported that a Ku Klux Klan member blew up a car in front of one of Robert’s parents’ plays, Betty and Walter Roberts, in 1965 in response to King Jr.’s daughter Yolanda being cast for a role, in which she kissed a white actor.

Gayle King hailed Julia’s parents’ decision as “extraordinary” because people didn’t see how “little black kids interacted with little white kids in drama school at the time.”
