Alabama vs. Ole Miss: Prediction, Selection, Spread, Football Game Odds, Watch Online, TV Channel, Live Stream

No. 9 Alabama took center stage in one of the biggest upsets of the season in a loss to No. 7 LSU last week. Now the Crimson Tide is looking to get back on track when they travel to Ole Miss No. 11 in front of a hostile crowd at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Alabama has lost two of its last three games, including the overtime thriller against the Tigers in Death Valley in Week 10. The Rebels, who suffered just one loss of the season, will then seek to compete for the SEC West crown Keeping up a bye week last weekend.

There is a lot at stake here. Both teams are staring the New Year’s Six Bowl bids in the face, and the winner will move up the pecking order and essentially secure a spot in one of the most important bowl games of the season. The stakes are even higher for Ole Miss; A loss to the Crimson Tide combined with an LSU win over Arkansas earlier in the day will give the Tigers the division title.

Alabama vs. Ole Miss: Must know

What is Bryce Young’s status? The Alabama quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner has been working to get back to 100% after suffering a shoulder injury against Arkansas last month. Young struggled at times against LSU, and coach Nick Saban knows the rest of the offense doesn’t do him much good.

“Everything indicates that he is telling us, me and the medical staff that he is fine, that he is fine,” Saban said Monday. “I think you’d have to ask him to really get a sense of how he’s feeling, but he tells us he’s fine. He said he’s doing fine compared to what he’s been doing. But look, we gotta do a better job around Bryce. We need to protect him better. We can’t let people push his bag open. We have to run better to run routes so we can trust people to do exactly what they do. should be done.”

Ole Miss is among the top four teams in the SEC when it comes to sacks and tackles for loss, and there’s no doubt that creating pressure will be a focus of the Rebels defense. Empty possession against Ole Miss can cause big problems, and Alabama’s offensive weakness doesn’t pair well with Ole Miss’s defensive strength.

Big Play Rebels: Ole Miss has 16 passing plays from at least 20 yards this year — the fourth most in the SEC. Receivers Malik Heath and Jonathan Mingo are full throttle and have benefited from a Rebels attack that moves fast and puts safety in the box.

“They make a lot of explosive plays in the passing game because they’re a very good running team, which isn’t unusual because you have to play to stop the run,” Saban said. “They do a good job of capturing these running games, it makes it very difficult.”

Ole Miss has the same philosophy as Tennessee, and we all know what happened to the Crimson Tide against the Volunteers. If the Rebels can build up the run early, quarterback Jaxson Dart has a chance to slice and dice the Tide secondary.

Where is the motivation?: The last time Alabama essentially disappeared from the national cover picture in mid-November was 2010. The Crimson Tide have lost two of their last three and, to be honest, the fire didn’t seem to be on the sidelines at all Saturday night in Death Valley . They were relegated to play for the Pride and Saban is working hard to get through in training this week.

“I think it’s a challenge for all of us to be proud,” Saban said. “We’re going to play a good team this week and I’m sure they want to put on their mantle: ‘We’re beating Alabama too.’ So it’s just a question of whether we let that happen or do everything we can to avoid it because Ole Miss has a really good team.”

Saban has mastered the ability to thrive under pressure. Usually, though, that’s the pressure to win at the highest level the sport offers. The pressure to save face is something else entirely.

Alabama vs. Ole Miss prediction, tips

Featured Game | Ole Miss Rebels vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

Take Ole Miss and the points, but you won’t need them because the Rebels win this game outright. The Rebels’ multi-dimensional attack will find success early, dragging Alabama defenders into the box and Dart will shoot over the top. At the same time, the Ole Miss defense will have enough success to apply pressure to put Alabama behind the sticks. That’s bad news for an Alabama team that hasn’t been crisp on the road. Prediction: Ole Miss +12
