“Continued advancement in the field of dentistry and orthodontics depends on world-class academic research that advances our understanding of the science of dentistry and addresses issues that may arise during treatment,” said John Morton, Align vice president, product innovation and engineering associate . “Align is privileged to be a part of these advances by funding researchers around the world.”

“Through Align’s annual research awards program, we are proud to support orthodontic and dental research studies that may ultimately improve patient outcomes,” said Dr. Mitra Derakhshan, Align Vice President, Global Clinical. “As we expand the capabilities of the Align Digital Platform, our proprietary combination of software, systems and services designed to provide a seamless experience and workflow, we are enabling more clinical and scientific research opportunities through the continued adoption of digital technologies such as further studies into near-infrared imaging (“NIRI”) technology, treatment efficiencies related to treatment times and less in-person doctor visits, and insights into treatment efficiencies such as class II mandibular advancement treatment. We will continue to use insights from research studies to improve the treatment planning experience and further advance digital scanning and clarify the acceptance of aligner therapy.”
