American Express partners with TikTok for Small Business Saturday

To reach Gen Z, companies had to get creative with social media platforms like TikTok. According to American Express’ 2022 Shop Small® Impact Study, 72% of small business owners said their customers depend on social media channels for business news, and nearly 88% said it’s helped them get their new to find customers.

To help businesses reach the next generation of consumers, American Express is partnering with TikTok in the run-up to Small Business Saturday, a global movement founded by American Express in 2010. Small Business Saturday is dedicated to supporting local businesses that create employment opportunities and boost economies and improve neighborhoods across the country. It always takes place on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, which will be November 26th this year.

Amex’s partnership with TikTok

TikTok has become a popular platform for finding new businesses, as 77% of the app’s users say TikTok is likely to give them gift ideas this year. The partnership includes American Express and TikTok working together to launch the #ShopSmall Accelerator to help small businesses grow.

The Accelerator is a video toolkit that provides best practices and resources for small businesses to reach Gen Z and Millennial shoppers on TikTok. The product will also help businesses tell their stories authentically and stand out in the upcoming holiday season. TikTok is also offering eligible small businesses a $100 advertising credit to use in the app after spending $50 on their first TikTok ad campaign.

The social media platform and credit card issuer also involves some social media creators. The project includes Anna Sitar, Brandon Blackwood and Sofia Bella.

More resources for small businesses

American Express is also launching a new initiative this year. As the first introduction of a Kabbage Funding reward at Small Business Saturday, there will be a Kabbage Funding offer from American Express that includes a $250 incentive from November 14, 2022 to February 28, 2023.

The offer is available to new Kabbage Finance customers who apply for and are approved for a Kabbage Finance Line of Credit during the specified promotional period. Businesses do not need an American Express card to take advantage of this offer.

Other Shop Small resources available to business owners include Shop Small Studio, which provides templates for creating custom marketing collateral, and ByBlack, a platform specifically designed to support and empower Black-owned businesses.

So keep an eye out for this offer in case the issuer offers it again.

bottom line

With inflation mounting the financial burden on small businesses, finding ways to make small purchases is important.
