The Barboursville store is over 60,000 square feet and is located at 30 Tanyard Station Drive in the Tanyard Station Shopping Center. The Pinellas Park store is 50,000 square feet and is located at 7230 US Highway 19 N. Both bring a wide variety of athletic and outdoor merchandise to their communities ahead of the holiday season. The Academy hosts grand opening celebrations of Friday 18 Nov through Sunday 20 Nov in both stores. Throughout the weekend, customers at each location can look forward to exclusive offers, giveaways, meet-and-greets, activations of brands sold in the Academy, food truck samples, and great prizes.

Academy has opened nine new stores in 2022. The Barboursville deal is the first in the state West Virginiaand Pinellas Park is the premier Academy store in Tampa Bay and 14th in Florida. Academy plans to continue its expansion efforts beyond 2022, with a goal of opening 80 to 100 new stores over the next five years.
