Her love of painting and design began as a child. As she got older, she began creating custom paintings for the commission.

Although she never dreamed of becoming a business owner, her latest creative adventure allows others to try their hobby.

“This is my little outlet and it was just nice to share it with other people,” says the owner.

creative possibilities

Creative Flex opened its studio in July 2022 with the aim of giving people the opportunity to create.

The downtown Racine studio invites people to join one of his painting sessions. Through public events, private parties and events, Flores-Lockridge helps artists and interested parties create unique paintings.

Participants can choose to paint a blank canvas or get by with a little help from the owner, who provides stencils or ready-made canvases.

By providing a canvas for community members, the owner helps people unleash their creativity.

“The best thing about art is that you really don’t have to think about it. Once drawn out, it’s almost like a coloring book,” says the owner.

Flores-Lockridge has made their studio a place where people with an open-minded, forward-thinking attitude and a creative approach can work.

Welcoming people of all ages and abilities, the studio is an inclusive environment where mature artists can hone their skills while beginners try something new.

“I really want you to make this an experience for yourself. Also, I like what I do and what you like (at Creative Flex),” says Flores-Lockridge. “I’m going to make it the best (experience) I can have.”

events and openings

Birthday parties have been a hit since the studio opened. For children, prices range from $25 to $28 for groups of 10 or more. Adults can book private parties and paint for around $35.

These private events invite people to use the studio for 3 hours. A variety of packs are available, including a decoration pack.

Flores-Lockridge not only takes the lead at parties, but also welcomes those who bring their own ideas to her. They recently hosted a painting night where a community member and they worked together.

Aside from private parties, the space is open for public events and also accepts walk-ins. They are open Wednesday to Friday from 18:00 to 21:00, Saturday from 13:00 to 21:00 and Sunday from 13:00 to 18:00.

try it yourself

Creative Flex participates with Downtown Racine Corporation on Thursday 3rd.

On November 17, for $10 each, people are invited to stop by the studio and draw their own board game onto a canvas. Upon purchase, you will receive game pieces and dice.

“You can take it home and then play it after Thanksgiving dinner,” says the owner.

Whether you paint during the event downtown from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. or try at a different time, each canvas can be taken home after painting in the studio.

“People want to try something different than what they’ve been offering,” says Flores-Lockridge.
