Rolls-Royce, Airbus and Heathrow are all calling for nominations for diversity champions in the technology and engineering sectors ahead of a prestigious awards ceremony.

Nominations for the 2023 Engineering Talent Awards are officially open to celebrate the achievements of individuals and organizations who have championed equality.

The prestigious awards night recognizes how people have pushed inclusion in a sector largely dominated by white males.

This year, the Costain Group Disability and Wellbeing Network was recognized with the 2022 Overall Excellence in Engineering Award for its work in supporting people with Down Syndrome and Autism in the industry.

The award was presented by Metro.co.uk Editor-in-Chief Richard Hartley-Parkinson.

Next year’s winners are now being sought.

The founder of the awards, Dr. Mark McBride-Wright said: “The awards aim to raise the profile of the engineering and technology professions in the UK and highlight the diversity of engineering on a national platform.

“By showcasing role models and inspiring people, we can celebrate the diversity of organizations and engineers.

“We will shine a light on the individuals and organizations working to advance and diversify the engineering and technology sectors, while recognizing milestones in business, media, politics and grassroots activism.”

The gay safety engineer said he founded the organization after seeing the practical and safety implications of an industry historically dominated by one demographic.

This year’s other winners included Chrisma Jain, a qualified Mechanical Engineer and Senior Project Manager at Transport For London.

She took home the Engineer of the Year award for her strong advocacy for changing the work environment.

Nominations for next year’s awards opened on November 2nd and details on how to enter can be found on the Engineering Talent Awards website.
