Boppa Chua! The history of the 50’s and 60’s through popular songs

The Destin Library Friends Guild Presents Boppa Chua! Marc Black’s History of the ’50s and ’60s through Popular Songs on November 4 at 6 p.m. at the Destin Library.

New York Blues Hall of Fame inductee Marc Black will guide you through these two defining decades in an evening of song, storytelling and laughter. You’ll celebrate a variety of wonderful songs like “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” and “Blowin’ in the Wind” and tunes by artists from Dean Martin to George Harrison.

In addition to music and conversation, this popular program features a slide show by Susan Black that is sure to take you back in time. Marc will also perform his own group Blades of Grass’ Top 40 hit “Happy” as performed on their tour with The Doors, Neil Diamond, The Dave Clark Five and Van Morrison.

The Nutcracker tickets in advance

Join Northwest Florida Ballet at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center on November 18 & 19 at 7:30 p.m. and November 20 at 2:30 p.m. for the 43rd annual production of The Nutcracker.

The only full-length version in the area, NFB’s The Nutcracker features live music from the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, conducted by David Ott, and a cast of more than 140 performers, including international guest artists and over 100 local children.

Tree lighting and the arrival of Santa Claus

Destin Commons invites everyone to watch Santa light his Christmas tree on Friday, November 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Enjoy face painting, hot chocolate, and a photo booth. At 7pm the Christmas Parade begins when Santa arrives on Main Street to light the most spectacular Christmas tree on the Emerald Coast. After the Christmas tree is lit, the extravaganza ends with a final fireworks display.

Holiday Craft Show is on November 18th

The 16th Annual City of Destin Holiday Craft Show will be held on November 18 from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm and November 19 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Destin Community Center

There will be over 60 vendors displaying handmade jewellery, wreaths, books, food and more. Vendor booths are available for $45 for Destin residents and $55 for non-residents. Price includes an 8×10 seat, a 6-foot table, and two chairs ($10 extra for a corner booth or additional table). Register early as places are limited.

Wine Walkabout is on November 10th

The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation will host the 10th Annual Wine Walkabout and Dinner on November 10 at 5:30 p.m

The 10th edition of this event will once again be held at the East Bar and Courtyard at Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Destin.

Chef Ruston Johnson has created a special menu with several culinary stations featuring heavy hors d’oeuvres paired with fine wines from various winemakers.

Wine Walkabout guests will enjoy mingling with MKAF staff and members, enjoying hors d’oeuvres, enjoying tasting stations, visiting winemakers from exclusive wineries, trying their luck at a wine train, at a silent auction to offer and much more.

Live entertainment will be provided by award-winning jazz artist Michael J. Thomas and pianist Cam Ray. Tickets are $95 per person or $75 for MKAF members.

Big boulevard farmers market

The Grand Boulevard Farmers Market is held every Friday and Saturday from 9am to 1pm in Grand Park in the heart of Grand Boulevard in South Walton. Bring your shopping bag and stock up on local produce, eggs, jams and cakes. Homemade soap, good olive oil and pickles are available to take away.

Rosemary Beach Farmers Market

Browse Sundays from 9am to 1pm at the 30A Farmers Market in Rosemary Beach. The local farmer’s market is held on Sundays year-round and Thursdays during the summer months at North Barrett Square along Scenic 30A.

Adopt a street

The City of Destin’s Adopt-A-Street program enables local families, businesses, and community groups to provide a valuable service to the community by adopting sections of street to keep it clean of trash and debris. Groups participating in this program will be listed by name on the community website and signage will be posted on the street of their choice.
