BROWNSVILLE, TX – Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation (GBIC) has appointed Mr. Jerry Briones as its new Director of International Business & Industrial Park Development. Mr. Briones has over ten years of combined experience leading global reach, sales, corporate acquisition, business development, retention, expansion and people.

Director of International Business & Industrial Park Development is a new position that will be responsible for GBIC’s recruitment, expansion and staffing efforts for international business and development companies in Mexico, Canada and abroad. This position is responsible for fostering strong collaborative relationships with Matamoros and other strategic manufacturing centers throughout Mexico.

Jerry Briones is a former United States Marine Corps sergeant, a communications major from the University of Texas at Brownsville, previously licensed by the Texas Department of Insurance, and has extensive training in various areas of economic development. He previously served as Business Development & Partnership Manager for VTX1 Companies, Executive Director of Workforce Training & Continuing Education for Texas State Technical College, Director of Business Recruitment for Pflugerville Community Development Corporation, and Director of Global Outreach and Development for the Brownsville Economic Development Council. In addition, Mr. Briones has chaired and served on several boards and advisory committees, including the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce.

GBIC is a non-profit organization, Type-A Economic Development Corporation, that effectively functions as the economic development arm of the City of Brownsville. Its press release states that the group seeks to foster economic growth in Brownsville and Cameron County by nurturing a young and skilled cross-generational workforce who will drive innovation in the region. It facilitates economic growth by stimulating investment and working with regional and international partners in job creation, education, innovation, business development and manufacturing.
