How adults consume news: America’s Newspapers launches research study

America’s Newspapers launched a national study to determine the changing dynamics of local news and the important role newspapers play in delivering news and information to their local communities, both large and small.

Coda Ventures, a leading media research company, was commissioned to conduct the study on 5,000 adults across the country.

“America’s Newspapers prides itself on providing our members and the industry at large with comprehensive and timely data on the role that local newspapers play in their communities,” said Dean Ridings, CEO of America’s Newspapers. “This study will objectively examine how adults consume local news across platforms and which sources they consider to be the most reliable and reliable. Advertisers will appreciate this updated study.”

“It has been many years since a study of this type was conducted,” said Cameron Nutting Williams, president of America’s Newspapers and regional publisher and chief revenue officer of Ogden Newspapers. “America’s Newspapers’ investment in this research demonstrates our commitment to the industry in providing our members with the tools and resources they need to fuel their business development. In addition to America’s Newspapers, the national study was funded by contributions from a number of leading industry organizations and companies including: The Advocate | The Times Picayune | NOLA.com, SNPA Foundation, Southern Newspapers, Ogden Newspapers, Gannett, Adams Publishing Group, Wick Communications, Shaw Media, Paxton Newspapers, Clarity Media Group, Inland Press Foundation, WEHCO, The Seattle Times, Press Publications and Seyfarth Shaw.

Sampling for the study was conducted from late October to early November. The results will be published in early 2023. In addition to the study results, America’s Newspapers will issue a variety of other supporting marketing and sales materials to its members.
