JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As Jacksonville continues to grapple with the aftermath of Tropical Storm Nicole, city leaders continue to work with local and state authorities to monitor potential impacts.

Here is information from the City of Jacksonville:

UPDATE:

  • Duval County’s local state of emergency ends Saturday, November 12 at 8 a.m.
  • The biggest concern remains rough surf and tidal conditions. Citizens are encouraged to stay away from standing water and the ocean.
  • City offices will be closed on Friday, November 11 in honor of Veterans Day.
  • JTA has resumed normal Friday operations.
  • The St. Johns River Ferry will resume service on Friday, November 11 at 12pm.
  • The catch-up day for rubbish, recycling, bulky waste and garden waste collection on Thursday is Saturday 12 November.
  • The collection of rubbish, recycling, bulky waste and garden waste on Friday will take place as usual.
  • The following shelters will be closed on Friday November 11th at 5pm.

Duval County’s local state of emergency ends Saturday, November 12 at 8 a.m.

Duval County remains under a Coastal Flood Warning through 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 11.

The biggest concern for Duval County is surf conditions and coastal flooding.

Is the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) enabled?

The EOC was activated on Thursday, November 10th at 8am.

Are schools closed?

Schools have returned to their normal schedule. Friday, November 11th is closed in honor of Veterans Day.

Are authorities closed?

City offices will be closed on Thursday 10th November and Friday 11th November.

As of Wednesday, November 9, the 630-CITY (2489) information line will be open to the public 24 hours a day for the duration of the storm.

All Jacksonville Public Library branches will be closed on Thursday, November 10th and Friday, November 11th. They will reopen on Saturday November 12th.

Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS) will be open Thursday, November 10, 12pm-7pm, Friday, November 11, 12pm-4pm, Saturday, November 12, 10am-6pm, and Sunday, November 13, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Are there any changes in public transport?

JTA has resumed normal operations.

The ferry will resume normal service on Friday 11 November at 12:00pm.

Is the airport closed?

The airport is currently open. Officials will continue to monitor weather conditions. Passengers are encouraged to check their airline’s flight status for the most up-to-date information.

Are the beaches closed?

The beaches are currently open. However, there is a red flag, high danger conditions and citizens are asked to stay out of the water.

Are parks closed?

The Huguenot Park is currently closed.

The Jacksonville Beach Pier will be closed beginning Wednesday, November 9th at 12pm.

Hanna Park is open again.

Which events have been cancelled?

The Veterans Day Parade and breakfast scheduled for Friday, November 11 has been cancelled.

The Jacksonville Fair will be closed on Thursday, November 10th and will reopen on Friday, November 11th at 3:00 p.m.

Are bridges closed?

All bridges are open. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) works closely with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol to monitor wind conditions at bridges in the area. If winds exceed certain levels, FDOT will work with law enforcement to close affected bridges. All bridge closures will be communicated via local media channels, social media, the city’s website (www.COJ.net) and the JaxReady mobile app.

Who do I call when my light is out? Power outages are likely with this storm. JEA will work to restore power when safe to do so. Power outages and service issues can be reported to JEA at (904) 665-6000 or online at JEA.com.

Is the collection of waste and recyclables on schedule? Make-up day for Thursday’s rubbish, recycling, bulky waste and yard waste collections is Saturday 12th November.

Friday rubbish, recycling, bulky waste and yard waste pickups will be conducted on a normal schedule.

What types of waste does Solid Waste collect? All standard solid waste collection rules apply with a waste limit of 5 cubic meters. Any changes or exceptions to these rules as a result of the storm will be communicated through local media channels, social media, the city’s website (www.COJ.net) and the JaxReady mobile app.

Will shelters be open?

Landmark Middle School and Legends Center will close Friday, November 11th.

Drivers should treat malfunctioning or inoperative traffic lights as 4-way stops.
