Kahn selected as Lehigh’s first goaltender for the 2022 Victory Sports Tours/Division I Senior Team

GENEVA, NY – Senior goalkeeper maddie khan of the Lehigh field hockey team has been selected to attend the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) senior game taking place on Saturday, November 19 at 2 p.m. at the University of Connecticut

Kahn is one of 38 members named to the 2022 Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division I Senior Team. All five NCAA Division I regions are represented on the 2022 list of honorees. The selected student-athletes were nominated by their NFHCA member coach and selected based on their career achievements. Selected seniors will be given the opportunity to represent their institution while competing against their peers. This year, the Division I Senior Game will be held in conjunction with the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship in Storrs, Connecticut.

Kahn becomes the sixth Mountain Hawk in program history to be named an NFHCA Senior Game, Lehigh’s first goaltender to receive the honor. This is also the first time since 2000-2001 that Lehigh has entered student-athletes in consecutive seasons for the NFHCA Senior Game.

Kahn has a 9-6 record in goal this season, with 90 saves and a shutout for a .720 save. She made double-digit saves in three different games that year, with her career-high 18 saves against Boston University (September 17) and 10 saves in Ohio State (September 4) and Lafayette (September 9) competitions. 30).

In 55 career games, Kahn has amassed over 3,300 minutes in goal while making 320 saves, seven shutouts and a career save percentage of .739. She has made double-digit saves seven times in her four years.

Kahn is a three-time NFHCA National Academic Squad recipient, a two-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member, and a numerous Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week honoree. During her sophomore campaign, Kahn was named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year, selected First Team All-League Honoree, and NFHCA Second Team All-Region.

New graduate Steer Havas was selected to last season’s NFHCA senior team in lieu of the traditional senior game, which was canceled due to restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and is the youngest member of the Lehigh field hockey program to be selected. The other Mountain Hawks named for the Senior Game were Christy Smith (2007), Cindy Tindall (2001), Kristy McHale (2000), and Kelly Harkins (1998).

Kahn was also awarded her first Goalkeeper of the Week award on October 10 after a 2–0 week of overtime wins over Villanova and Bucknell.
