BearingPoint analyzed over 5,000 projects to rank 150 leading organizations on their resilience attributes. They then developed a benchmarking tool that organizations can use to assess their resilience.
This study shows that 60% of organizations rate their technology as fully resilient. When asked about the benefits of using agile methodologies within their technology functions, 82% of respondents saw increased flexibility within their organization as a result, 72% reported improved collaboration, and another 72% highlighted faster time to market.
Although the study shows that organizations that implement agile methods into their technology function are more resilient, the study also concludes that even these organizations cannot afford to be complacent.
Resilient organizations focus on ensuring that IT and business functions work together to increase the effectiveness of current technologies and support investments in value-added technologies. They understand that successful agile transformations unleash the true potential of their technology.
Stefan Pechardscheck, Global Leader Technology at BearingPoint “We are in the midst of a revolution in business models and technology, and the two cannot be separated. What can you do to use technology to drive business success and ensure resiliency? The answer lies in agile organization of technology, specifically your enterprise architecture function, to fulfill the five key activities of a resilient organization.”
The study showed that leading companies are taking five actions to build resilience through technology – and create real value
1. You anticipate future business needs and technologies
Resilient organizations regularly update their IT strategy to accommodate new technologies, respond to business opportunities, and stay resilient. They ensure the optimal relationship between business model and technology.
2. They bring their value chain into balance
Resilient organizations define and maintain a business resilience framework that is underpinned by their EA function and technology. You work along the entire value chain, including strategy, digital and organization.
3. You will develop core competencies in the field of enterprise architecture
Resilient organizations build a strong EA function by getting the right talent, tools, and governance to define and oversee their business resilience framework and connect business goals, initiatives, and teams across the organization.
4. They invest in technology, people and the digital workplace
Resilient organizations encourage adaptability across their organization, supported by technology and fostering a culture of collaboration, empowered people and agile governance.
5. They work extensively with stakeholders
