The sheriff’s office conducts three drug busts

COSHOCTON – The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office was involved in three drug raids in the past week.

The first took place Tuesday at an apartment building on South 18th Street, where a large quantity of suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia was seized. On Thursday, Jonathan R. Art, 33, of Coshocton, was formally charged with trafficking fentanyl, a second-degree felony, related to the incident.

The second raid was the execution of a search warrant just before noon on Wednesday at an apartment on Block 700 of Poplar Street. Drugs and drug paraphernalia were found at the scene. A woman was taken into custody. Her name will be withheld pending formal charges.

The third, on Thursday, took place at a 1000 block of flats on Chestnut Street. A significant amount of drugs, drug paraphernalia and cash were seized at the scene. Leonard T. Anderson, 53, of Coshocton, was charged Friday with trafficking cocaine, a first-degree felony.

The Coshocton County Attorney’s Office is reviewing all cases.

Fyffe demands parole

COLUMBUS – The Ohio Parole Board has announced a parole hearing for Daniel D. Fyffe, an inmate at Grafton Correctional Institution, on or after January 2023.

Fyffe was sentenced in 1989 to 20 years in prison for aggravated murder, 10 to 25 years for aggravated robbery and kidnapping, 2 years for theft and 1.5 years for escaping.

Veterans Day ceremony planned

COSHOCTON – The Coshocton County Veterans Council, Service Commission and Bureau staff will hold the annual Veterans Day ceremony on November 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the Coshocton County Courthouse.

Guest speakers will include Sharon Burns of the Blue Star Mothers chapter and 1st Sgt. Stephen W. Justice, retired of the US Marine Corps.

The Walhonding Rube Band will provide patriotic music and Sam Scott will sing the Armed Forces Medley. TAPS is played by Tim Vance and George Clark. Pastor Bob Adelsperger of Perry Chapel Baptist Church will give the indication and blessing.

Veteran Vouchers available

COSHOCTON – Coupons for a turkey or ham will be issued by the Coshocton County Veterans Service Office November 7 through December 9 to veterans or veterans’ widows who present proof of residency and an honorable discharge.

There are 250 coupons available at the VSO in the basement of the Coshocton County Courthouse. Coupons must be used at Coshocton Buehler’s Fresh Foods by December 31st.

Toy Chest registration planned

COSHOCTON – Registration for the 2022 Coshocton County Firefighters Toy Chest distribution will take place on November 15 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and November 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds in the youth building. The organization provides Christmas toys to needy children ages 15 and younger living in Coshocton County.

New, unboxed toys can be dropped off at the Coshocton Fire Department, 325 S. Seventh St. and the Walhonding Valley Fire District, 100 Bridge St., Warsaw. Monetary donations can be dropped off at fire stations or mailed to Toy Chest, PO Box 133, Coshocton, OH 43812.
