The last weekend of October has arrived in college football and brings with it another series of action-packed games. With conference racing getting serious across the country and the race for bowl eligibility gathering momentum, it’s going to be another big week in esports, and CBS Sports Network will bring you five games from across the country.

Two Conference USA teams restarting under first-year coaches will kick off Friday night when Mike MacIntyre’s FIU hosts Louisiana Tech and new coach Sonny Cumbie. Saturday will then bring four more games, stretching from noon into the early hours of Sunday for viewers in the eastern time zone. UConn is hosting Boston College to get things started on Saturday before the action heads to the AAC where Navy Temple is hosting in the afternoon. In the evening, FAU welcomes the UAB in a duel between the teams that suffer narrow losses at Conference USA. Finally, San Jose State takes on Nevada in a battle in the mountains to the west to cap the night as the Spartans try to stay in the hunt for a divisional title.

Storylines: FIU clinched their first conference win since 2019 with a 34-15 win in Charlotte last week. The Panthers will look to maintain the momentum under first-year coach Mike MacIntyre this week when they host a Louisiana Tech team , who are suffering a heartbreaking 42-41 overtime loss to Rice. The Bulldogs are 4-0 all-time in this series and need another win to keep their bowl hopes alive under first-year coach Sonny Cumbie.

Boston College at UConn

Storylines: UConn needs just one win to surpass its best win total since 2015 as the Huskies show signs of progress after a 1-11 season in 2021 under first-year coach Jim Mora Jr. They have a bye and face a struggling Boston College team that needs a win before re-entering the grind of the ACC game. The Eagles rank 119th overall in offense and bottom nationwide in rushing offense behind a struggling offensive line.

Temple at the Navy

Storylines: Navy is only 2-5, but the midshipmen have shown flashes that suggest they are capable of more than their tally suggests. Wins over respectable league opponents East Carolina and Tulsa show what Navy is capable of on a good day. But Temple will pen that game as one of his best remaining shots at an AAC win this season under first-year coach Stan Drayton.

UAB at Florida Atlantic

Storylines: FAU nearly scored a street upset from UTEP last week before the Miners scored a game-winning field goal after time was up. It was FAU’s fourth loss in their last five games, dropping the Owls to 3-5 overall and putting them in danger of losing consecutive seasons. UAB goes into a similarly narrow loss after falling to 3-4 with a 20-17 loss in Western Kentucky last week. The Blazers won last year’s meeting 31-14.
