Florida pulled off a convincing win over Texas A&M on Saturday, but voters in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll aren’t yet convinced the Gators are worthy of a vote. For the fourth straight week, Florida has not received a vote in the poll, remaining on the outside and looking in.
It won’t be easy for Florida to gain ground with South Carolina and Vanderbilt on the schedule, but the Florida State game could carry some weight. FSU just blew up Miami and gets minor support at 22 points in poll update.
As for the rest of the SEC, Georgia remains at the top of the rankings after a convincing win over Tennessee that sent the Volunteers down three spots to 5th place. LSU moved into the top 10 after an impressive overtime win over Alabama, Ole, ahead of Miss in 9th and the Crimson Tide slipping to 11th. Kentucky is the second-highest team in the conference at 24th, meaning all four of Florida’s losses have gone to a ranked opponent.
Mississippi State (11) and South Carolina (3) also received votes but did not make the top 25.
UCF ranks 21st as the highest ranked team in the Sunshine State.
