Pat and Jana Eilers Make Lead Gift for Sports Achievement Investment – Notre Dame Fighting Irish – Athletics Official Site

Pat and Jana Eilers made a $5 million gift to help fund this Position of Associate Athletics Director for Sports Performance of the University of Notre Dame. Pat Eilers, a 1989 Notre Dame graduate, was part of the university 1988 national football team.

Pat and Jana Eilers’ Associate Athletics Director for Sports Performance will support the current position of John Wagle, who was hired in May 2022 after spending four years with Major League Baseball’s Kansas City Royals as Director of Performance Science & Player Development would have.

Wagle’s mission is to maximize the relationship within sports performance areas to impact Fighting Irish student-athletes on a daily basis through a progressive and excellence-driven program. By improving the collaboration between strength and conditioning, nutrition, athletic training and sports psychology, Wagle aims to increase Notre Dame’s athletic performance.

Wagle and Notre Dame’s sports performance team produce results based on data using state-of-the-art technology, working in lockstep with coaches, student-athletes, data analysis and strategy. The Eilers’ gift will enable Wagle and his team to advance Notre Dame’s industry-leading efforts.

The Eilers hail from Winnetka, Illinois and have long been supporters of the University of Notre Dame. This latest gift follows previous contributions to endow the position of assistant coach of the football program’s defensive back and an endowment towards an engineering scholarship at the Notre Dame Energy Center. The Eilers are members of the Jesse Harper Council, the Athletics Director’s Circle, the Badin Guild, and the university’s Advisory Council for the Student-Athlete.

Pat Eilers is the Founder and Managing Partner of Transition Equity Partners, LLC (“TEP”), a private equity firm focused on the energy transition. He is also CEO of Power & Digital Infrastructure Acquisition Corporation. Prior to founding TEP, Eilers was a Managing Director at the BlackRock Infrastructure Platform and also worked at Madison Dearborn Partners, where he led the company’s energy and power distribution practice. Eilers played in the NFL for six years. He also invests in human performance and sports analytics companies.

Eilers earned Bachelors of Science degrees in Biology (’89) and Mechanical Engineering (’90) from Notre Dame and a Masters of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Jana Eilers graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a degree in Marketing. The couple have four children, all of whom attended Notre Dame.
