Axios reported Tuesday that ABC News veterans are teaming up with members of The Lincoln Project, a political organization embroiled in a scandal, to create a new “pro-democracy” media outlet.

The new website, titled “Resolute Square,” is billed as an alternative news source for those who “reject political extremism and the GOP.”

Axios political reporter Alexi McCammond wrote about the new outlet, which the creators hope to officially launch by midday on Tuesday.

The site is a collaborative effort between two ABC News alumni, Paul Slavin and Keith Summa, and four members of the Lincoln Project: Stuart Stevens, Rick Wilson, Reed Galen, and Joe Trippi.

The Lincoln Project has branded itself as a group of conservatives opposed to former President Donald Trump. Since its inception in 2019, however, the group has become increasingly hostile to a multitude of Conservatives and Republicans running for office.

The group has also been plagued by scandals, with co-founder John Weaver being accused of 20 young men including “at least two minors‘ to sexually harass her.

Adding to the harassment scandal, the Lincoln Project admitted hosting a photo op at a Glenn Youngkin rally in 2021 that appeared to show white supremacists holding torches in support of Virginia’s then-governor nominee.

As the report notes, Slavin will serve as CEO of the new company, while Summa will serve as editor-in-chief and general manager of the site.”

According to Stevens, the team wants its new website to be a news source for those tired of the kind of politics being pushed by Trump and his supporters in the GOP.

He was promoting his new website, telling Axios: “There’s a world of people who’ve spent the last six to seven years yelling at their TV and seeing this poison. That is the answer.”

Resolute Square’s content consists of “free and paid newsletters, articles, podcasts, and video live streams offering three tiers of membership subscriptions ranging from $60 to $200 per year.”

Among the first things to be hosted on the site is a “strategy call” video live stream hosted by the four Lincoln Project advisers in response to Trump’s potential campaign announcement Tuesday night.

Stevens stressed that the company does not see itself as a news organization, but as a website dedicated to promoting “democracy bias” against right-wing news sources.

During a recent appearance on MSNBC, Stevens revealed a more open view of his political opponents, claiming that he and his Lincoln Project colleagues are “trying burn the Republican Party to the ground” to “rebuild a sane centre-right party”.

He added, “The pain is the teacher here.”

On Tuesday, Wilson tweeted updates about his new branch, writing: “Trump is back and @projectlincoln is gonna kick his ass any day. But there’s only so much one SuperPAC can do: it’s time to take on the MAGA media bullies. Also, why not take a second full-time job?

Kurt Bardella, Democratic Party strategist and former Lincoln Project adviser, agreed to the offer, tweeting, “I’ve said all year that one of the most important things the pro-democracy movement needs to do is come up with a substantive response to… build the right wing propaganda machine.”

Bardella was in the news recently for joking that if Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., lost her race for US Congress, she could open an account for adult social media site OnlyFans. He later apologized.

Former Republican Cheri Jacobus wasn’t impressed with the new venture. She tweeted, “Oh look – the white men who stole tens of millions of dollars will now try to make an honest living.”
