St. Louis Cardinals news, rumours, 2023 payslips and more

Cardinals 2023 Offseason Tracker: Keep up to date on St. Louis’ offseason

The St. Louis Cardinals had an exciting 2022 season that ended in disappointment. Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina’s final seasons will be remembered forever, the dominance of Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado was a welcome sight, and the rising young core took another step forward. And yet, the Cardinals have a busy schedule this offseason.

John Mozeliak set the stage for a possible winter by promising raises and identifying needs such as a catcher, pitching, bullpen, a left-handed bat and possibly one of the superstar shortstops. The offense needs major upgrades to support its two MVP candidates and young talent, and the club also needs to attract top-notch pitching talent in both the rotation and bullpen to compete with the National League’s best teams.

The Cardinals have a variety of directions they could take to meet their needs, whether that be through trades, signings, or internal solutions. But after printing money in the 2022 season, fans should expect to be rewarded with big moves to show for it. Will the front office still pull through? Will wage bills actually increase significantly? Will the Cardinals part with the necessary assets to get help in the trading market? It remains to be seen.

So many questions need to be answered, but for now, here at Redbird Rants, we’ll be following all the news, rumors, payroll implications, and transactions that fans need to know for the rest of this offseason. Come back to this during the offseason to keep up with what’s happened and what’s currently in the works with the Cardinals offseason.
