With online sports betting just around the corner in Maryland, ten mobile sports book operators will have their licenses reviewed by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency (MLGCA).

If these ten online sportsbooks are found qualified by the MLGCA, they will have a hearing with SWARC scheduled for November 21 and may be granted licenses. Once the licenses are issued, online sports betting in Maryland will begin rolling out across the state of Old Line.

Ten online sportsbooks in Maryland are inspected by the MLGCA

These ten potential Maryland online sportsbooks will be reviewed by the MLGCA on Thursday, October 27:

Following possible approval this Thursday, these ten online MD sportsbooks would receive a hearing with SWARC on November 21, leading to a possible launch of online sportsbooks in Maryland in late November or early December 2022.

The ten online sportsbooks will have internal controls approved along with a successful controlled demonstration to the MLGCA. All ten operators are expected to receive approval, but we’ll keep this story updated with the latest information.

Online sports betting in Maryland can start after November 21st

Online sports betting in Maryland is now scheduled to launch on November 21st, according to SWARC’s review. With SWARC (Sports Wagering Application Review Commission) beginning the license review process on November 21, online sports betting sites in Maryland are likely to go live by early December at the latest.

MLGCA’s Jim Nielsen has previously commented that the commission will also consider ten other retail sports betting applications during the October 27 meeting. Maryland retail sportsbooks have been operational since December 2021, and after almost a full year of delays, online sportsbooks in Maryland are now expected to launch between November 21st and December 5th at the latest.
