The Hispanic Coalition of Small Businesses (HCSB) is forming an organization focused on nurturing small business communities

— More than 200 community and business leaders gather to celebrate the launch of HCSB at a regional summit —

That Hispanic Small Business Coalitionan alliance of various organizations based in Southern California and engaged Promotion of small business communities in the region and across the country, and approximately 200 guests officially celebrated the organization’s launch at San Bernardino International Airport on October 14 as Hispanic Heritage Month drew to a close. Guests included the 15 affiliated member organizations of the HCSB; corporate sponsors; legislature and community leaders; more than 150 small business owners and sole traders.

“With the launch of the HCSB, our board, committee chairs and entire team have demonstrated our focus not only on empowering small businesses, but also on the communities where their owners and employees live and work,” said Frank Montes, chairman of the HCSB.“This event introduced HCSB and its members to the community. It also served to bring small business owners together with corporate providers to discuss possible new contracts. And several small businesses found people from other small businesses to hire locally!” he added.

For example, Juan Rodriguez, entrepreneur and owner of Axxiom Enterprise, LLC and other small businesses said: “I came back from the HCSB inaugural event not only with new friends and colleagues, but also with at least three new contracts and numerous leads for additional business‘ said Rodriguez. He cited the business-related resources HCSB provides to small businesses as invaluable and much-needed in the region.

More than 20 founding sponsors, government agencies and small businesses attended the event with product displays and demonstrations of energy efficient vehicles. HCSB hosted three panels and its 1St in a series of business-ready training courses for small business owners aspiring to government and corporate contracts. Panels Included: (1) How to make a company ready for sourcing opportunities; (2) Sustainable Future – Water, Energy & Labor; and (3) infrastructure projects – hydrogen, development and construction of industrial complexes. Panelists included representatives from SBD International Airport; McCarthy Building Companies, Inc.; County of San Bernardino; San Bernardino Community College District; CA Workforce Development Board; Board of Education, Riverside Unified School District; Western Municipal Water District; Southern California Edison (SCE); Cucamonga Valley Water District; Metropolitan Water District of SoCal; San Manuel Bank of the Missionaries; SoCal gas; Burns & McDonnell; and the town of Colton.
