UF unvoiced in week 8 USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

It’s no surprise Florida remains empty in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll after a bye week, but after Week 8 there was still plenty of movement in the top 25.

Georgia and Ohio State remain at the top of the college football world, but Tennessee made a step up to third place to overtake Michigan. The Bulldogs and Volunteers will meet on November 5th, which should somehow bring No. 6 Alabama back into the mix now. Rounding out the top five, Clemson is the only 8-0 team in the country.

As for the rest of the SEC, LSU moved into the top 25 at No. 20 after knocking off a top-10 Ole Miss team now ranked No. 12 in the country, and Kentucky continued its slow climb continued back into the top 15, although it wasn’t playing a game this week. South Carolina also pulled off a big upset against Texas A&M, rounding out the top 25. If the Gamecocks can hold that ranking for another two weeks, Florida has a shot at another ranking win.

Speaking of ranking wins, Florida’s season-opening opponents Utah sit at No. 14 with a 5-2 record. It looks like the Utes are legitimate contenders for the Pac-12 title once again, and it’ll be hard to cite Florida’s victory over them as to consider anything other than a quality win.

Mississippi State received four votes and Arkansas had three. The only school in Florida state to receive a vote this week was UCF with one.
