At 4-5, UTEP needs to win two of their last three games to reach a bowl for the second straight year. With a tough matchup at UTSA to wrap up the regular season, beating Rice will be crucial to get six wins. The Owls are trying to bowl for the first time since 2014 but need to play better defensively than they did last week in a 56-23 loss to Charlotte.

The Hilltoppers just lost 40-13 at home to North Texas, and Charlotte throttled Rice 56-23 away in Peter Rossomando’s first game as caretaker coach after firing Will Healy. The 49ers won’t be bowling this season, but a win here will secure Western Kentucky its fourth bowl appearance in four seasons under coach Tyson Helton.

USU is only 3-5 this season after winning the Mountain West in 2021, and the Aggies are losing 28-14 in Wyoming.
