With its Hi-MO 6 modules, LONGi combines photovoltaic technology and architectural aesthetics

As one of the fastest growing renewable energy sources to mitigate climate change, photovoltaics plays an important role in the future global power generation mix.

With the upgrading of technology and products and the increase in application scenarios, decentralized photovoltaics shows enormous potential. According to industry analysts, distributed PV systems accounted for 47.9% of newly installed solar capacity worldwide in 2021, of which residential users accounted for 26%, a share that has now been increasing for five straight years.

In order to gain an in-depth insight into the needs of energy consumers, LONGi’s product development team has surveyed thousands of end users over the past two years and concluded that they are ultimately looking for a product that combines efficiency and safety with architectural aesthetics.

The result is the launch of the company’s Hi-MO 6, its first module designed exclusively for the global consumer market and utilizing its unique HPBC technology. The Hi-MO 6 maintains the standard M10 (182mm) size, with module efficiency reaching 22.8% in mass production.

HPBC (Hybrid Passivated Back Contact) is a new generation, highly efficient solar cell technology, unique in its front-mounted, busbar-free design. LONGi’s R&D team has developed completely different cell structures and technological approaches for HPBC cells, including back contact, contact passivation and anti-reflection technology. The mass production efficiency of the standard HPBC cell is over 25%, while that of the PRO version improved with hydrogen passivation technology exceeds 25.3%.

Technological innovation brings module efficiency and installation capacity to a new level, Hi-MO 6 improves power generation performance in all aspects of efficiency, light absorption, high temperature performance, response in low irradiance conditions and power decay. Data from simulated power generation in typical regions on six continents (excluding Antarctica) shows that Hi-MO 6 has an average gain of up to 10% compared to PERC-based products.

Compared to the PERC and TOPCon technologies, Hi-MO 6 can significantly increase the installed capacity due to the higher module efficiency on a limited roof area, while the lack of a ribbon increases the light absorption by up to 2.27% when light from multiple angles occurs to . The power temperature coefficient can be as high as -0.29%/℃, which improves the power generation performance in high temperature environments, while achieving excellent performance even in low insolation conditions. In low light conditions, the product’s high open circuit voltage allows the inverter to reach its working voltage faster, while lower linear degradation ensures highly efficient power generation throughout its life cycle.

In terms of reliability, the Hi-MO 6 adopts back contact welding technology, which uses a single-row structure, unlike the traditional Z-shaped structure, to reduce cell edge stress and improve the module’s resistance to cracking. In a series of third-party thresher tests, the Hi-MO 6 also demonstrated superior performance in maintaining a stable and continuous power output under variable conditions.

Four product series with unique functions for different application scenarios.

Customers in the decentralized market have different needs, with each application scenario bringing its own product requirements. Therefore, LONGi R&D team has launched four series of Hi-MO 6 products:

The Explorer: Classic, but with revolutionary changes

As the mainstay of the Hi-MO 6 Series, the Explorer offers optimal power generation performance to meet the needs of most customers, from residential to commercial and industrial sectors.

The Scientist: Being better is our benchmark

Focused on high efficiency, the Scientist Series is ideal for customers seeking ultimate performance, such as: B. Companies with high energy requirements. The products are equipped with hydrogen passivated HPBC PRO cells, enhanced with extended warranty, remote monitoring, periodic inspection and operational quality analysis. The ultra-high product efficiency of the series enables customers to safely install power plants in their production plants and other areas to achieve their energy saving and CO2 reduction goals for at least 25 years.

The Guardian: Empowering a Smart Future

Focused on intelligent security, the Guardian series uses pre-programmed intelligent optimizers to make the module smarter in a number of key areas. Intelligent and precise analysis algorithms enable real-time monitoring of the power plant around the clock, whereby in an emergency a quick shutdown can be triggered to protect people and property. Independent control and real-time optimization capabilities in each module can increase power production by 5% to 30%, with higher string versatility and flexible design increasing capacity regardless of orientation.

The artist: technology and art in harmony

To meet the aesthetic demands of architects, the Artist Series breaks with the tradition of uniform black PV modules to offer custom sizes and colors. This is of particular interest for landmark buildings such as sports stadiums, cultural venues and exhibition venues, as well as upscale residential buildings that wish to benefit from photovoltaic technology without sacrificing aesthetics.

To meet different aesthetic needs around the world and to complement different architectural designs, Hi-MO 6 is also available in Obsidian Black (black back) and Stars (white back) finishes.
