You Season 4: Showrunner shares what to expect from the plot

After the dramatic return with Season 3 of psychological thriller YOU, Netflix is ​​on track to present Season 4 of You. Filming for Season 4 of For You officially began in March 2022 and ended in August. Netflix has already confirmed that Joe Goldberg (played by Penn Badgley) will be returning to You in Season 4.

Fans will see bookstore manager and serial killer Joe Goldberg (played by Penn Badgley) in a new look in You Season 4. In Tudum, the streamer unveiled the news, never-before-seen footage, trailers and first looks, as well as interviews with the drama’s biggest stars and creators. In the teaser, Joe molested his first love, Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail), saying, “I would do anything for you, I just want to be good enough for you.”

Then the clips show his wife Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti) and Joe in bed having a love scene in which they say, “I did everything I could for you, for you, for you.”

The official synopsis for You Season 4 hasn’t been released yet, but based on the teaser, Joe is now in London under a new identity. Now going by the name of Professor Jonathan Moore, he’s trying to fit into the world of science, but knowing Joe, it’s not going to be easy.

Show creators Sera Gamble and Greg Berlanti celebrated the news in a statement to Deadline: “Penn has been exciting to watch [Badgley] bring Joe to a spooky but captivating life. We are deeply grateful that Netflix has been so supportive of you and that people around the world have enjoyed seeing how Joe really got it all wrong over the last 3 seasons.”

“The entire You team is excited to discover new, darker aspects of love in Season 4,” added Gamble.

You is an American psychological thriller series released by Netflix based on the books by Caroline Kepnes. The series was developed by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble and produced by Alloy Entertainment and A+E Studios in association with Warner Horizon Television, now Warner Bros. Television.

Each season follows Joe with a new identity. In season one, Joe falls in love with aspiring author Guinevere Beck. He develops an extreme obsession. His obsession has him stalking Beck as he commits various murders that go against their romance.

In season 2 of You, Joe Goldberg moves from New York to Los Angeles to escape his past and starts afresh with a new identity. He meets a number of people including his neighbors Delilah and Ellie Alves and Forty Quinn. When he meets enthusiastic cook Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), Forty’s sister. Joe begins to fall back into his obsession and violence.

In Season 3, Joe and Love marry and raise their newborn son, Henry, in the fictional California suburb of Madre Linda. Meanwhile, their relationship takes a new turn. Joe repeats the cycle of obsession with a burgeoning interest in Natalie Engler, the next door neighbor. In Season 3, Joe says, “No more bad things, I promise…”

Earlier we saw that Joe is in Paris looking for Marianne (Tati Gabrielle) and has also traveled to France. Netflix hasn’t confirmed Marianne’s return, but she will play a central role in Joe’s world in You season four.

Penn Badgley told TVLine: “I think if Joe finds [her]he will live happily ever after and have beautiful babies.”

Gabrielle chatted to The Wrap about how she thinks this could all play out if Marienne returns, saying: “I don’t think Marienne would come back [to Joe], like, definitely not. But I think she would give him a talk.

“Because, on the one hand, her heart was being played with again. And I think for her own healing she needs a fucking conversation, she needs to hear it from his mouth… I think it’ll give her a sense of peace… And I really want Marienne to like exposing Joe too. I want that. Only, yes, I need that.”
